Sweep It Back For Spring
Your hair that is! The fashion weeks exposed some hair trends for spring that are fit for a bride or even a bridesmaid — very natural, undone and most importantly simple. Be the best bride on the block and ask your bridesmaids to recreate some looks from the runway for your special day. These styles make great DIY projects for your bridesmaids and adding accessories (headbands, clips, scarfs) will give the look that something special for your big day.
Steal this look from Balenciaga by having your bridesmaids blow dry their hair smooth, create a center part, and pin the front pieces back just along the top of their ears. Add something special to this look with a hair accessory, like this gold headband, or even throw in some of your flowers by having them pin one or two loose flowers at the top. You can make this look Grecian and formal or vintage and outdoors.
This more “lived in” hairstyle is a favorite at the moment and believe it or not, very appropriate for a bridal party. Why? Because it still acknowledges the importance of volume. To replicate this look from Balmain, the key is lots of hairspray in front. That’s right, spray the crap out of the crown of your head and use your fingers to pull back sections to make it look more piecey and swept back. Secure with one elastic (use a clear one if you want to make it more formal), braid to the end, and use another elastic to secure it. It’s casual but can be more high-fashion if you add smokey eyes and more striking lips.
What we used to refer to as “just got out of bed” head has now been re-marketed as “tousled and textured.” This is a sexy look that we all can pull off. Blow-dry damp hair to make it smooth while keeping some of the body in the back. Experiment with a more dramatic side part and tuck loose pieces behind the ears. Finish off with teasing and holding spray to make the ‘do look a bit more sleek and put together.
This one is more for fun! The low pony is a deliberate style — finally! So after a long night on the dance floor, when you see your bridesmaid rockin’ out and rockin’ this look, give them props!
